Over two thousand years of building and rebuilding have shaped this city into the hot date location it is today. From gay bars to space museums, amazing country hikes to country pubs, you will have so much to do in Leicester that you will want to spend every day going on a different date.

History Of The Leicester Dating Scene

Leicester had the heck bombed out of it by the Nazis, but it rebuilt in the years since then to become one of the most accomplished cities in the North. Textiles formed the backbone for a huge cultural expansion of the city in the 60s. How? Well, simply put, the industry brought in unskilled migrant workers from India and Pakistan, which led to the influx of cultures that makes the city what it is today. The dating scene really took off though when King Richard III was found in a car park. He wasn't just wandering around asking for cigarettes -- it was just his remains. But those remains became the focus for a massive regeneration project, which has led to the creation of many new and romantic dating hotspots, such as a visitor center where you can pay your respects to King Dicky, plus some new additions to the cathedral, and a Nando's.

Best Times To Go Out

leicester03

You can go and see major landmarks any time you like, so if you have some time to spare after going to see a show or catching a meal, why not take an impromptu wander round a castle or a park for a romantic stroll and a naughty cuddle. Of course, if you have something specific in mind, make sure you check the times and get tickets if it is something like a show. Other dates can be worked into your day if you work during office hours -- many pubs and restos cater for this. Or if you have some time during the day and that is when you would like to make your date then why not think about going to somewhere like a museum which are open mainly in the office hours? When you make your date, the spot can be crucial, so be sure to think about what kind of vibe you want -- start to midweek for a laid back date, and the weekend for something a little more frenetic.

Bradgate Park

Charnwood Forest, Leicestershire
Website
Any Notes
Plenty of parking in villages nearby
Brief Description
A true gem in the Northern landscape, this park in the middle of an ancient forest is a must see for anyone new to the area or who simply has not been there yet. A daring date for lovers of hiking, it is easy to get lost in a wilderness as big as this -- 850 acres -- so this is a suggestion for serious lovers of the outdoors only. If you and your date love to hike or are into hill walking then you should grab your boots and walking sticks and head for the gently rolling hills outside the city. Stop in at a country pub for a drink and meal on your way home, and you have yourself a seriously good date lined up. Make sure you both have fully charged phones, a map and compass each, enough water to keep you gig for several hours, and be sure that you plan a route and leave a copy of it with someone else so that they know where you might be if something goes wrong -- might sound a little over the top to non-walkers, but if you know how to stay safe in the Great Outdoors, you will get exactly where we are coming from. Other than that -- get ready to see some amazing sights and enjoy some truly enormous lungfuls of good Northern air as you and your date set out on a deeply romantic and exhilarating date to remember!

The Copt Oak does the trad English pub food you would expect, and if you come here on a Sunday you can order a Sunday roast, made the old fashioned way. Wash it all down with some real ale, and enjoy the views of the countryside a you and your date relax from a long walk. Perfect for those lazy autumn evenings. Brief Description
Outstanding English Heritage castle in extensive grounds. Perfect for an outdoors date that feels truly timeless. The caste has a tower, underground passages, and well preserved curtain walls. Built in the late 1400s, this castle is older than some countries. If you really want to get a sense of how old the landscape is that you have been wandering around in like a pair of love sick puppies, get your selves down to this castle and start to drink in some heady history. Try to imagine just how many people must have polished these floors with their footsteps. Imagine the lives they must have lived, how different their day to day thoughts must have been. In a way, those people are still here, living their lives. In fact, more than a few people have sen ghosts at this very location. Leicester is certainly more than a little haunted, so if you like a good scare and you have balls of steel, why not head on over to the castle and get your dose of spooks while on your date? Pair with a few drinks and a meal afterwards and you have a truly romantic date idea that will keep you and your special someone talking about it for days, weeks, months, even years. It's not often you get to visit a king of England, so try and squeeze this into your date if you can for a taste of English history and heritage unlike any other. From one history hang to another, you really cannot miss out on a trip to visit King Dicky the Third. One of our least fave kings, Old Dick was thought missing in action until just a few years ago, when some clever chaps dug him up in a car park.
