History Of The Birmingham Dating Scene

Birmingham started out as a mid sized market town in the medieval period, and pretty much stayed that way till the Industrial Revolution, when the town became a world leader in terms of science, tech, and industry. This is arguably the time when Birmingham's social scene really started to blossom. Nowadays, the city is an important cultural hub at the heart of the UK, and still a world leader in the areas that saw it grow from a market town to a fully plugged in city, despite the damage to its infrastructure sustained in the Second World War. From St Martin's church to the Bull Ring, there are so many cultural landmarks that stand out as idyllic backdrops to dates, and with a plethora of eateries and entertainment venues, the city is leading the UK into a future that places the nation among the best worldwide date locations.

Experience a fun type chocolate day trip which you will never forget, and bring home more chocs than you can shake a (chocolate) finger at. A romantic treat for chocolate lovers. The Alex, as it is known locally, was built in 1901 and when you visit the place for whatever event you feel like, you can really get a sense of the history here. In fact, it is said to be haunted, so if you like to be spooked while you watch a show, give this very popular venue a try and keep an eye out for ghosts, including that of the former owner. Definitely a date idea for lovers of the supernatural -- and theatre of course! Classics like West Side Story play here regularly, and you can catch seasonal gems such as the Simon and Garfunkel Story. Make sure you book in advance, so as to ensure that you are not disappointed by shows being sold out. A bit of advance planning will make this a serious contender for your date idea next time you want to treat someone special to a romantic night out.

Over 80 types of gin. A small but delicious menu. Dickensian themed decor and a truly historic building that is split over two distinct levels. The Jekyll and Hyde is a brilliantly thought out concept bar, the likes of which are rarely so well executed. As an example, just look at the way the whole establishment is set up: upstairs you will find Dr. Jekyll's Gin Parlour, while downstairs you can immerse yourself in Mr Hyde's emporium and grab a truly wicked little cocktail -- or several. Definitely a date idea for anyone with a literary bent, The Jekyll and Hyde is a must see for anyone new to Birmingham, or anyone who just hasn't tried it out yet. A very memorable date venue, and one of our faves on the list. Big thumbs up!
